“This particular peony was so challenging to paint because of the complex structure of its petals. Fine striations were observable and time-consuming to duplicate. I left the original colour, choosing whites, grays, etc. to emphasize the flower's construction, and to make it easier on the eyes of the viewer. The center of the blossom is true to the original, however: golds and shadows. I chose the title easily as to the effect the painting creates. The extension of creation from its source.”
