What is Giclée? | Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”), is the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word “giclée,” from the French language word “gicler” meaning “to squirt, spurt, or spray.” The giclée printers spray over 1 million droplets per second onto the selected substrate, which is higher than a traditional lithographic print and has a wider color gamut than serigraphy. There are no screens used with this method of reproduction hence, giclée prints render deep, saturated colors and have a beautiful painterly quality that retains minute detail, subtle tints and blends. The preciseness of the printing along with the depth of color range captures the subtleties and nuances of the original oil image. The inks used to create these prints usually boast an archival life of over 100 years. |
As a perfectionist, the artist Don Berger takes control of his print production. He oversees the adjustments for color balance, tonal range, and sharpness ensuring the prints are true to the original. Because you are buying from the artist directly, you save the markup normally charged by print dealers. Each new giclée print is perfected, proofed, signed and packaged by the artist, himself. As a special promotion we are offering free shipping and PST within Canada and the US until June 30, 2012. | |
